Significant Facts

JEXPO 2019 is a state level entrance exam which is also known as WB Polytechnic. Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnic is administered by the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education https://webscte.co.in/. Candidates can get admission in the government and private aided polytechnic institutions of the state. Apart from the 86 Polytechnics in the state of West Bengal, India, Polytechnic Institute at Narsingarh in the state of Tripura, India, is also affiliated to the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education.

Eligibility Criteria

Passed / Appeared* 10th standard with at least 35% marks in aggregate without the marks of additional subject (without rounding up**). Mathematics, Physical Science (Science) and English are mandatory subjects in the qualifying examination and a candidate must acquire at least pass marks in all the three subjects as per his/her secondary board.

* Subject to production of original mark sheet / pass certificate at the time of admission. ** Without rounding up means that any shortfall of marks from the above benchmark will render the candidate ineligible for JEXPO2019 (Example: 34.99% marks will not be considered as 35%)

Age Criteria

No upper age limit. But candidate’s date of birth should not be after 01.07.2004

JEXPO 2019 Exam Pattern

  • Course: Diploma in Engineering/Technology.
  • Mode of Exam: Exam will be conducted through offline mode (OMR Answer Sheet).
  • Exam Date: The examination will be held on 30th May 2019.
  • Papers: The exam of JEXPO will be divided into two papers.
  • Paper-1: It will be conducted for Mathematics.
  • Paper-2: It will be conducted for Physics and Chemistry subjects.
  • Types of Questions: Questions will be asked in the Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) Type pattern.
  • Numbers of Questions: The whole question paper will be comprised of total 100 questions. 50 questions will be asked in Mathematics (Paper-1). 50 questions will be asked in Physics and Chemistry (Paper-2), i.e. 25 for each subject.
  • Duration of Examination: The maximum time allotted for each paper will be of about 2 hours (120 minutes).
  • Session: The exam will be conducted on two sessions, i.e. 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon (mathematics) and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (Physics & Chemistry).
  • Use of the Pen: Candidates have to use only Black/Blue ball point pen to circle the answers.
  • Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking.
